The Ao tribe of Nagaland celebrates Moatsu Festival every year in the 1st week of May. Various rituals are performed in this festival, the festival is held in Mokokchung, the urban hub of Nagaland state.
It is also called Moatsu Moong Festival and celebrate for three days. People sit in a group and feast around a campfire, and it is called ritual Songpangtu, The function is held after seeds are sworn in the fields.
During the festival, Tribal culture and their livelihood are showcased during the daytime. The Music and folk dances are performed by the tribal peoples of Mokokchung and nearby areas which are worth seeing.
