Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya is counted as India's most special museum, also known as Prince of Wales Museum, Built during the 20th century in honor of the Prince of Wales Edward 8th visit to India. With attractive architecture, located inside the Victoria Gardens near the Gateway of India. During 1990-2000 the museum was renamed after Shivaji, the founder of the Maratha Empire. This building with Gothic architecture was revived a few years ago by the Mumbai Municipal Corporation and was inaugurated as a museum on 10 January 1922 by the hands of Viceroy Lloyd George's wife. This Huge structure is a Wonderful architectural piece designed in the Indo-Saracenic style in which Mughal, Maratha, and Jain architectural styles have been used. Its architecture of columns, railings, and balconies are of 18th-century. More than 50,000 artifacts have been placed in this Huge museum. It is a wonderful museum that includes a forestry department that features Geological collections of minerals, stones, and fossils along with specimens of wood grown by British India. In 2008 two new galleries were added including the Karl and Meherbai Khandalavala collection. For history lovers, it's a must-visit place.
