The Benog Wildlife Sanctuary is situated amidst dense forests and is surrounded by the snowy peaks of the Himalayas on all sides. Chaukambha and Bandarpanch are beautiful peaks seen from this sanctuary. Earlier this sanctuary used to be the natural habitat of the extinct birds named Red-Blood Blue Magpie and Himalayan Quail, Later, this century was converted into a Bird-watching destination. Apart from Avifauna, tourists can also visit the natural habitat of spotted deer and lizards. The Himalayan quail was last seen in 1876. In this sanctuary, along with many medicinal properties, many plants of fur and deodar are found along with many plants. Many animals such as Himalayan goat, Himalayan bear, and Cheetah can also be seen here. Buses and taxis are easily available from Dehradun and Mussoorie city to this sanctuary.
