Hyder Ali, the king of Sri Rangapatna and Tipu Sultan are said to have had a deep connection with the town of Nanjangud. The city is named Nanjangud after the name of Lord Nanjundeshwar. It is a Shiva temple, said that Lord Shiva drank poison churned from the sea to save life on earth. Therefore it is called Dakshin Kashi. It is believed that visiting the temple relieves the sufferings of the devotees. There are two major sights to see here. They are Sri Raghavendra Swamy Math and Parashuram Shetra. It is 163 km from Bangalore and 30 km from Mysore. You can reach here with the help of a rail route or road route. Nanjnagood is a religious place, but now it is also growing very rapidly in business terms. Winter is the best season to visit Nanjagund.
