Rajasthan is famous for Forts, Palaces, captivating lakes that attract tourists in large numbers. In addition, Rajasthan is also known for its rich culture, fairs, and Festivals. Nagaur, a place in between Bikaner and Jodhpur is situated in the Thar desert, where cultivation is not possible.
People had to depend on breeding and trading of animals and sell them to nearby places like Punjab, Haryana, etc. This small town hosts the 2nd largest cattle fair in India. Camels, Horses cows, Goats, Sheep are sold here. Heavy bargaining is done by the buyers. A large number of healthy live stocks are displayed and traded. The camels are taken care of by the owners so that they can give a high price, the bullocks are also very healthy and fit and traded at good prices.
In addition to cattle trading, music and cultural events are also organized. Local dancers in their traditional attire perform folk dances.
To attract and engage the visitor's number of competitions are organized.
Since a large number of visitors came to the festival, the Rajasthan Tourism Department develop a village for their accommodation.
The festival is organized every year for four days in the month of January and February.
