Tarey Bhir is a beautiful cliff of South Sikkim located in the Sadam area, which is 18 km away from Namchi. There is a 3 km long stone ridge which has pedestrian footstep. 'Bhir' means cliff in the Nepali language.
Tarey Bhir is an ideal place to visit for those who love adventure, nature, and mountains. The length of the ridge is around 10,000 feet, and on the right side, it has a drop-down gorge of approximately 3500 feet. The walk along Tarey Bhir begins with a paved pathway that goes downhill.
The natural beauty of this place will leave you mesmerized. While walking on the roadway you will see the mountain covered with greenery. There are dark green pine trees, a lighter green carpet of grass, moss, and small shrubs.
The edge of the cliff also offers a beautiful view of the Himalayan ranges. You will also be able to see Darjeeling and Kalimpong hills which are on the lower altitudes of Tarey Bhir. And this place also shows the panoramic view of the confluence of the Tista and Rangeet river.
The best time to visit Tarey Bhir is anytime between March to May and September to November.
