Amar Jawan Jyoti is an Indian memorial constructed after the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971 to commemorate the martyred and unknown soldiers of the Indian Armed Forces who died during the war.
One significant addition to India Gate in the year 1971 was 'Amar Jawan Jyoti', the eternal flame. Dedicated to the soldiers who lost their lives in the Indo-Pak war of December 1971.The Amar Jawan Jyoti serves as India's Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
It is a marble cenotaph, consisting of a rifle and a soldier's helmet. The helmet and the rifle are said to belong to an unknown soldier who lost his life during the war. The words Amar Jawan are inscribed on the cenotaph in golden words.
