The other four observatories are located in Jaipur, Varanasi, Ujjain, and Mathura. The equipment in the observatory is used for predicting the location, distance and speed of heavenly bodies, movement of sun and others.Much later, the Government of India took several initiatives to restore the heritage observatory and promote it as a tourist destination in Delhi. The Jantar Mantar comprises of various instruments which helped with these predictions, such as the Samrat Yantra, Jayaprakash Yantra and the Misra Yantra among others. After constructing the Jantar Mantar in Delhi, Raja Jai Singh constructed more such structures by the same name in Jaipur, Ujjain, Mathura and Varanasi.
