The National Museum lies within an impressive building that sits elegantly on the edge of Maulana Azad Road and Janpath. It lies very close to India Gate and can be easily approachable via local transport and from Kendriya Terminal Metro Station.The blue-print for establishing the National Museum in Delhi had been prepared by the Gayer Committee set up by the Government of India in 1946.The concept was realized and the State Room within the Rashtrapati Bhavan or Presidential Palace was selected as the venue to exhibit these collections in 1949.National Museum of India, in New Delhi, museum devoted to Indian art history and iconography as well as to Buddhist studies. The museum was merged with the Asian Antiquities Museum to bring the treasures of India and Central Asia together. The collections include examples of art and archaeology, anthropology, decorative arts, and epigraphy.
