Omkareshwar can be termed as a blessing of God and mother nature, the sacred island, is in the shape of Hindus holy symbol 'Om' (ॐ). The famous Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga Temple, one of the 12 Jyotirlingas in India is situated in this serene town and makes it a holy place, and a large number of visitors are attracted to this place.
The place is on an island of the Narmada River and called Mandhata or Shivpuri. Most interestingly the shape of the island is in the form of 'Om'. It is adorned with lofty hills and a serene pool of the Narmada River is here.
A cantilever-type bridge over this pool adds to the beauty and charm of the place. The wonderful beauty and divinity of the town work like a magic spell and take you back to your childhood memories.
