Murugan temple lies on the Elk hill, one of the most beautiful hills located in Ooty. The temple holds special relevance amongst the people belonging to the Toda tribe. The main deity of this beautiful temple is Lord Murugan. The temple premises also have idols of Lord Ganesha, Lord Shiva, Goddess Shakthi, Nava Kanika, Navagrahas. Some people also carry Palanquins with them which are decorated with peacock feathers, brass bells, and flowers. Kavadi Attam, the local dance form performed by local artists is regarded as the main highlight of the festival.
