Chaturbhuj Temple is an ancient Hindu temple located in the city of Orchha, Madhya Pradesh. It is only 1 km away from Orchha Fort. This temple is known for its beautiful architecture and is one of the famous tourist places in Orchha.
This temple was built between 1558 and 1573 by Raja Madhukar Shah of Orchha for his wife, Ganesh Kumari, a great devotee of Lord Rama.
There is a famous and amusing story attached to this temple. This temple was built for Lord Rama, who stayed in the Ram Raja temple. Several legends say that the queen had a dream in which Lord Rama asked her to build a temple for herself. After the approval of the construction of this temple, the queen went to Ayodhya to bring the idol of Lord Rama, which installed in her new temple, when she came back from Ayodhya, she first placed the statue in the Rani Mahal, which is the temple was still under construction.
After completed the construction of the Chaturbhuj temple, the queen decided to install the idol in this temple. But the statue did not move from that palace, then the queen placed an idol of Lord Vishnu with four arms in this temple, and since then it has been the temple got its name as Chaturbhuj Temple.
The architectural style of the temple is a beautiful amalgamation of a temple, fort, and palace. The view of the temple is like a multi-story palace with arched openings. The temple also has a large entrance, large central tower, and fortifications.
The exterior of the temple adorned with the lotus symbol and other symbols of religious importance. The environment of the temple is very calm and peaceful.
This temple has great significance in the hearts of the devotees.
