Jehangir Mahal is a great place to visit in Madhya Pradesh. It is situated in Orchha, just adjacent to Raj Mahal. This palace covers an area of about 220 square feet area, facing towards the Betwa river.
The castle shows a fine Indo- Islamic style of architecture. Jahangir Mahal constructed to honor Jahangir on his first visit to Orchha. It was built by Bundela ruler Bir Singh Deo in the 17th century. It symbolizes the friendship between Bir Singh Deo and Jahangir.
The entire Jahangir Mahal was constructed around a square-shaped courtyard with a side of 67.6 meters each. The castle is three-storied, built mainly with yellow and red sandstone, having 136 rooms decorated with wall paintings. In this structure, you can see elements like marvelous sculptures, hanging balconies, delicate trellis, chhatris, and topped domes.
The entrance of the mansion has a beautifully traditional and artistic gateway, the front wall of the castle faces to the east, and it is covered with turquoise tiles.
