Panjim or Panaji is the capital of Goa and the headquarters of the North Goa district. Panjim is Goa's largest urban agglomeration, ahead of Margao and Vasco da Gama.
The place has terraced hills, concrete buildings with balconies and red-tiled roofs, churches, and a riverside promenade. The city is located on the bank of the Mandovi River.
Cobblestone streets and colorful villas of the Portuguese era are found in the area. Actually, it lies on the estuary of Mandovi river at the mouth of the river on the Arabian Sea.
