Patnitop

Patnitop is a beautiful hill station located in the Lower Himalayan Range close to the Pir Panjal range, 47 km from the Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir. It is situated on a plateau at an altitude of 2024 meters above sea level.

Initially known as Patan da Talab which means Princess's Pond. It is said that the princess used to use this pond daily for bathing. However, after a few years, the name changed from Patan Ka Talab to Patnitop.

Patnitop Deodar forests, winding hills, breathtaking views, and serene surroundings make this place an ideal picnic spot. There are three freshwater springs in this area which are the sources of cold water. The water of these waterfalls has medicinal properties, and you can visit them if you have time.

Many tourists visit Patnitop during the winter season to enjoy various activities like skiing and trekking. It is also suitable for golf, paragliding, aero sports, horse riding, and photography.

Tourist Attractions in Patnitop are - Popular tourist places, including Naga Temple, Nathatop, Sanasar lake, Madhatop, Buddha Amarnath Temple, Bahu Fort, Billoo ki Powri, Kud, Sudh Mahadev temple, and Shiva Garh.

Patnitop does not have an airport and railway station, yet tourists can easily reach it from Jammu. After reaching Jammu Railway Station or Jammu Airport, tourists can take state transport buses or hire taxis.

This place is known as a year-round destination. However, the best time to visit here is between May to June and September to October. The time between December to February is suitable for adventure sports like skiing and trekking.
