The Galaganatha Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, one of the main historical monuments of Pattadakal, which was constructed in the first half of the 8th century.
There is an idol of Lord Shiva, seated in the position of slaying the demon Anadhakasur.
Along with Lord Shiva, small figures of Gajalakshmi and Kuber are displayed within this temple. Amazingly, the architecture of the Galganatha Temple, built in the Nagara style, is similar to that of the Sangameshwara temple in Telangana.
Although most of the temple is in ruins, it remains an attraction for tourists and art lovers visiting Pattadakal.
This temple is part of Pattadakal Group of Monuments, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
