A winner(Chalukyas) building a temple in their kingdom inspired by the architecture of their rivals(Pallava). The Virupaksha temple is considered as the complete temple which boasts separate Praveshdwar (entrance), Nandimandapa (special structure for Nandi), Pravesh Mandapa, Sabhamandapa, Garbhagraha, Pradakshina marg, an actual deity. Also, the pillars have many stories engraved on it from Vishnu Sharma's Panchatantra and Ramayana. The Virupaksha temple served as a blueprint for the Rashtrakutas, who'd later go on to build the Kailasa rock temple at Ellora, Maharashtra.
