Dedicated to Lord Shiva, the Kyunkaleshwar Mahadev Temple is located amidst the thick forests of Oak and Pines in Pauri Garhwal and was built in the eighth century by Adi Shankaracharya during his visit to Pauri.
The temple is a little distance away from Ransi stadium in Pauri town. This temple was established here along with Goddess Parvati, Ganapati, and Kartikeya.
Apart from this, there are also idols of Lord Rama, Lakshmana, and Goddess Sita.
It is nestled in the lap of the Alaknanda Valley and offers soul-rejuvenating views of the snow-clad Himalayan ranges. A beautiful view of the snow-capped mountains and the city can be seen from the premises of the temple.
Hindu festival Mahashivaratri is celebrated here with great enthusiasm and hilarity at this temple.
