How to reach- "To reach Barren Island you have to take Boat from Port Blair, it will take 3 - 5 hours. It is suggested that start early in the morning around 4 to 5 AM."
Barren Island is located 13 km away from Port Blair on Andaman Sea. This is only place in India where volcano is still active and no living humans. Only few flying jackles, goats, birds, rats are staying in this harsh area. Black sand beaches are everywhere around the beach. The first erruption happened in 1787 and the last happened in 2017. This Island is the hottest amongst all the Islands of Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Large number of visitors from all over the World come here to get an experience of the live volcano. They come in a boat and see it from a distance without landing in the beach. The scientists come here for the research work on the ground of the Island. It is a good place for Scuba Diving.
For going to Barren Island Special permission to be taken from the Forest Department. It takes 3- 5 hours to reach the Island, but due to volcanic erruptions visitors need to sustain themselves with a view from the sea, not allowed to get closer to the volcano. You will get spectacular views around the beaches, which is not less than a dream for travellers. The best time to visit Barren Island is from November to February.
