Located at a remote place, largest shoreline beach in Port Blair stretching around 15 km is Wandoor beach, that is complimented by fallen tropical trees after 2004 tsunami, having clear blue water that invites you for a dip. You can go up to a distance since water depth is gradual, small current is there, increases during full moon. As a result, it is a perfect place for swimming.
Crocodiles were sighted several times, though Govt. has relocated them somewhere else, and a nest is provided around the starting of the beach. This net is made specially for the swimmer's safety so that no untoward incident happened during swimming.
At the starting of the beach an open area is there which is very close to the bus stand and airport. you can find number of small shops/ huts where snacks are being sold and you can take a break. There are gift shops nearby from where you can collect mementoes like local handicrafts at a reasonable price. Don't through plastic anywhere around since the area is plastic free zone and concern authority is very strict about it.
There is no water sports facility here, but few benches and tables are there where you can sit with family and the beauty of the seashore may be enjoyed.
