Aayi Mandapam Puducherry

Aayi Mandapam has an interesting story, while King krishnadevaraya, ruler of the Vijaynagara empire was on a journey, he was passing through this city and thinking of a temple and the King knelt on the street and bowed down before it with folded hands. Then he was told by the people that it is a brothel, run by a prostitute called Aayi. Then after years when this story got away to the French King, he ordered the architects to build the Aayi Monument. Now it is a White-colored monument built during the era of Napoleon III.
