Shri Gundicha Temple or Gudicha Ghar is located at Gundicha intersection near Puri bus stand known for the Rath Yatra Festival. After Jagannath temple, the Gudicha temple of Puri is the second most prominent place of Lord Jagannath. It is well maintained by the administration of the Jagannath temple. This temple reflects the typical architecture of the Kalinga era. Surrounded by beautiful gardens and walls, the 75 feet high and 430 feet tall temple is made of light brown sandstones.Here, Lord Jagannath used to stay for 9 days to celebrate the festival of Rath Yatra. On this occasion, Balabhadra, Jagannath, and Subhadra, who are believed to be three siblings, welcomed by Gundicha by feeding them a special rice dish called Podapitha. Visitors of Jagannath temple also visit this temple because it has a direct relation with Gundicha Temple.
