The Jonha fall is also known as Gautama Dhara, as it is believed that Gautama Buddha took a bath here.
At one end of Gautamdhara, there is a temple and an ashram dedicated to Buddha, built by the sons of King Baldevadas Birla.Every Tuesday and Thursday a fair held here, which is very popular among tourists.
By looking at the signs of the ashram, it can be easily guessed that it was originally built for Hinduism as well as all branches of Arya religion, Buddhist, Jain, Sikh, Sanatan, and Aryasamaj.
Locals also call Jonha as Ganga Nala, because its stream comes from Ganga Ghat. When you go down the river, you will reach the waterfall.
On the other side of the stream are Konardih and Durissani villages.
Jonha falls at the tip of Ranchi plateau and is counted among the sloping valley falls. The water comes from the Ganges and Raru River.
