Established in 3rd century BC according to the Ashoka of Maurya dynasty, Sanchi Stupa is 46 km from Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh state of India. Located in the northeast on the banks of Betba River in Sanchi city of Raisen district.
This place is world-famous for its attractive artworks. Sanchi Stupa was included in the World Heritage Site on 15 October 1982 by UNESCO. The relics of Lord Buddha are kept at this place.
Basically, Sachi Stupa is an architectural marvel, and the original stupa was made by Ashoka with polished sandstone for maintaining Buddhist philosophy and life. Agnimitra Shunga of Shunga Dynasty reconstructed it after demolishing and make it double sized from the original one.
Sanchi Nagar is situated atop a hill and is surrounded by lush green gardens. Due to which the tourists coming here feel peace and joy and tourists are attracted to this place.
The statues and monuments present at this place give you a good glimpse of Buddhist art and architecture.
