Ranthambore Fort

Ranthambore Fort is situated in Sawai Madhopur, was built by the Chauhan rulers in the 10th century. Located atop 700 ft high hill, the Ranthambore Fort possesses beautiful architecture and is situated in the middle of Vindhya and Aravali hills. The fort is huge and spreads across the vast area of around 7 km in circumference. Due to its strategic location, it always has an eye of enemies on it. This mighty powerful fort of Ranthambore has seen an immense number of attacks and conquests. The fort is also related to the historical legend of the royal women performing Jauhar (self-immolation) when the Muslim invader Alauddin Khilji laid siege on this fort in 1303.
