Sivasagar is a historically foremost part of Assam, located on the bank of the Dikho river and to the east of Jorhat. Sivasagar, one of the holistic towns, was previously spelled Sibsagar (the ocean of Lord Shiva). The capital of the former rulers, the Ahoms, has influenced the culture.
It is a city of decorated monuments and temples. Sivasagar attracts the attention of history enthusiasts who have tried to understand the East of India better. It has also played a chief role in Indian history, and it is the prime destination for historical tourism.
Talatal Ghar, Rang Ghar, and Rangpur Place are some architectural marvels in Sivasagar. Sivasagar and its surroundings are tourist places, since the city has been the capital of the Ahoms for a long time, many traces of the great Ahom rulers can be seen in Sivasagar.
Sivasagar pond is the biggest attraction of the city. The height of this pond which is more than 200 years old, is more than the height of the town. There are three prime temples around the pond named Shiv-dol, Vishnu-dol, and Devi-dol.
Apart from this, many other things make Sivasagar tourism prosperous. Talatal Ghar, Kareng Ghar, and Gargao Mahal are some of the major attractions of the city.
Talatal Ghar is the ground floor of a seven-story palace, which also has two secret tunnels. The upper part of the palace is known as Kareng Ghar. If you are roaming in Sivasagar, then do not forget to visit the dance hall called Rangghar. The roof of the theater looks like an upside-down boat.
The climate of Sivasagar is semi-tropical, which is quite good from the point of view of tourism. It rains heavily here, and for a few months, this place remains quite damp.
