Joysagar tank and temples are the most famous tourist attraction area of Sivasagar, Assam. It is also known as the Kesavanarayan or Joydol temple. Joysagar tank is an artificial tank built in the year 1697 by Ahom king Swargadeo Rudra Singha. The tank constructed within 45 days, and the king had it raise in the memory of his mother, Joymoti. The tank situated at Rangpur, and it is the big artificial tank in the whole country. It covers an area of 318 acres.
There are some temples around the Joysagar tank. These are Kesavarai Vishnu dol or Joydol, Baidyanath Shiva dol, Devi dol, Sri Surya mandir, Ghanshyam dol, or Nati-Gosai dol, and Ganesh mandir. Among all these temples, the Vishnu temple, shiva temple, Devi Ghar, and Ghanshyam temple are regarded as the four chief temples of Assam, and devotees visit these temples from around the state on a large scale.
All these temples are located on the northern side of the Joysagar tank. It is a great place to visit with family.
