Shivadol is a famous tourist attraction of Assam. It is located in the Sivasagar district. It is one of the most popular pilgrimage spots in the country, and it is the tallest Shiva temple in Northeast India. It is the highest temple in the country also, with a height of 104 feet.
Shiva dol temple is dedicated to the Hindu god Lord Shiva. Devotees visit this temple on a large scale. The environment of this temple is very calm and peaceful. Two other temples surround the Shivadol. These two temples dedicated to Lord Vishnu and Goddess Durga, named Vishnu dol and Devi dol.
All these temples are situated on the banks of the Sibsagar lake. There is a massive dome on the top of the Shiva dol called Kosolei and this part of the temple made of pure gold. You will also see beautiful engravings of various Hindu Gods and Goddesses on the pillars and walls of the temple.
This temple created by the kings of the Ahom dynasty. Apart from being a pilgrimage site, this temple also has a great historical value. Maha Shivratri festival is celebrated here in a magnificent way, and you will be able to see the rich culture of this place.
