South Sikkim

South Sikkim is a district in the Indian state of Sikkim situated at an altitude of 610 meters from the sea level. Namchi alias Namaste is the district headquarters. This small district is known for Buddhist culture, art, and religion. Many monasteries in the district make it magnificent and beautiful. The oldest monastery of the state is in this district. There are many trekking opportunities available in this beautiful district. The Buddhist lama has spent a lot of time meditating in the Tedang hill here. Temi Tea Garden is the first tea garden in Sikkim to supply tea to the international markets. This district also has special significance from a religious point of view. One of the four sacred caves of the state located here. There are two sub-divisions in the South Sikkim district named Namchi, Rowing. The history, of South Sikkim, is not very old, its actual existence started in the 19th century, at that time, it was part of the state of Sikkim, then when the Anglo-Bhutan War took place, it came under the British.
