Salim Ali National Park is also called City Forest National Park and is located in Jammu and Kashmir in India. It extends in a 9.07 km area and is positioned in the closeness of Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir. It is situated at a distance of 12 kilometers from the Airport of Srinagar.
In the memory of Salim Moizuddin Abdul Ali, the renowned Indian Birdwatcher and Naturalist, was acknowledged as a National Park in 1992. This Park is also called Salim Ali National Park and the best way to explore the place is on foot.
It is compulsory to take a guide. Moreover, the guide will also help increase your knowledge and identify the hundreds of species of flora and fauna.
Other attractions in the area include the Animal Rehab Centre, a place for the rehabilitation of wounded or stray animals, the Deer Park, which has Sambar and deer species in open enclosures and the Taxidermic Museum, which provides rich information about the denizens of Thattekkad.
The timings to visit for these attractions are 9 AM to 5 PM.
