Located in Nagalapuram 70 km south-east of Tirupati, housing an image of the Matsya form of Vishnu, with Sridevi and Bhudevi on either side is Sri Vedi Narayanswami Temple. As per legend, Lord Vishnu, in the form of Matsya, killed the rakshasa (demon) Somakudu here, retrieving the Vedas from the later. The specialty of the idol is that it holds the Sudarsana Chakra in prayoga mode(ready for release). In Nagalapuram the Vedanarayanaswamy temple built by Krishnadevaraya and his mother Nagamba is situated. In March every year, this town rises into festivity for Surya Puja and the rays of the sun fall on the dedeities feet, forehead and, navel at different times of the day depicting the worship of Sri Surya Bhagavan (the Sun God). Other temples inside the main temple are Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swami temple, Sri Bhakta Anjaneya Swami temple, Sri Vedavalli Tayaru, Sri Veeranjaneya Swami temple, and Sri Sita Lakshmana Sameta Ramulavari temple. The most important annual festivals in this temple are Brahmotsavam, and Surya Puja along with the Float festival that is conducted on the 12th, 13th and 14th days of Phalguna.
