Situated in the hill town of Tirumala at Tirupati in the Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh, India, Venkateshwara Temple is a landmark Vaishnavite temple.
The Temple is dedicated to Lord Venkateshwara, an incarnation of Vishnu, who is believed to have appeared here to save mankind from the trials and troubles of Kali Yuga.
Before darshan devotees take a holy dip in the adjacent pond and after darshan take Prasadam (Ladoo). Everyone will get two ladoos and can purchase if required more. People sacrifice their hair for religious reasons.
A large number of domestic and foreign tourists come regularly throughout the year. On average 50000 devotees come daily for prayer.
As you can not avoid rush so it is better to visit in a cool and comfortable climate, November to March is the best time. During festival time devotees have to stand in a queue for hours together before darshanam. So be prepared mentally for a long queue before entering the temple.
If you want to avoid the queue and your pocket allows then you can purchase a special Darshan ticket with Rs. 300 that will help in saving time and avoid long queues. Special Darshan entry timings vary every day. You come with family and friends to visit this famous temple in Tirupati. The temple is open from 2:30 AM to 11:59 PM every day.
Special Pujas are also held here like Weekly Sevas Visesha Pooja held every Monday from 6 AM to 6:30 AM. - Rs.600. Kalyaotsavam - 10 AM to 12 PM-Rs 1000. Arijtha Brahmotsavam 12:30 PM to 2 PM-Rs 200. Sahasra Deepalankara Seva 5 PM to 5:30 PM-Rs200. Vasanthotsavam 2:30 PM to 3 PM - Rs 300.
