Alamgir Mosque

Ancient buildings still stand today, incorporating rich culture, art, and tradition among themselves. Among such magnificent buildings is the Alamgir Mosque in Varanasi on the banks of the Ganges. Despite being a religious building, the artistic side of this mosque is unmatched. Built on the banks of the Ganges in the Mughal Sultanate, this mosque gives a feel of the exquisite art of that era.Special care has been taken off the artistic side in the construction of the mosque. This mosque is also known as the Dharahara Mosque. The ornamental floral leaves on the walls of the mosque look very attractive. The greatest beauty of this mosque was its towers, which are now broken. One tower was broken in 1956 for lack of maintenance and the other was torn down in 1958.
