Durga Temple, located in Ramnagar, Varanasi is dedicated to Goddess Durga. It is believed that this temple was built by a Bengali queen in the 18th century. Presently this temple comes under the control of the Banaras Royal Family. The temple is built in the North Indian style of Nagara style of Indian architecture. Durga Kund, a square-shaped pond, is inside the Temple. The shikhara of this temple is quite high, which is divided into four corners and each corner has a tower and multi-towers. The building is painted red with ocher extracts. The clothes of the Goddess in the temple are also of special types.According to a belief, the idol installed in this temple is not created by humans rather the idol itself was revealed, which came to protect people from evil forces. Thousands of devotees come to this temple during Navratri and other festivals. Non-Hindu people are not allowed to enter the courtyard and sanctum sanctorum of the temple. This temple is also called the monkey temple because a large number of monkeys are present on the premises of this temple.
