Chain Tree

Chain Tree is a famous tourist attraction in Wayanad. There is an interesting story attached to it. There is a Nandi tree that attracts tourists. A chain is hanging from this tree.

There is a hearsay, an English engineer crossing Wayanad with the help of a local guide named Karithanandan, through difficult hill paths. But when he reached Wayanad, he killed the guide because he wanted to take full credit for the discovery of the place.

Subsequently, it was said that the soul of that guide wanders here and scares and annoys the travelers who come here. Then a priest, using his powers, tied the soul to the tree with a chain, and hence the tree was named Chain Tree. Still now, this chain is hanging from this Nandi tree.
