Karapuzha Dam

Karapuzha Dam is located 16 km from Kalpetta, it is one of the largest earth dams in India. The dam was built on Karapuzha Lake.

The specialty of this lake is that this lake consists of about 12 other lakes. The construction of the Karapuzha Dam began in 1977 and completed by 2004 for irrigation purposes.

The tourism department developed an aquarium in the vicinity of the dam and arranged boating and canoeing facilities. You can see beautiful mountains situated around these lakes, which are scattered in the vicinity of the lake.

This place is also an ideal breeding ground for many aquatic birds. The sound of water falling from the dam and the strange mountains in the background make the view spectacular.
