Valliyoorkavu Bhagavathy Temple is a pilgrimage site in Wayanad that dedicated to Goddess Durga (Bhagwati). In the temple, three forms of the goddess, goddess Vana Durga, Bhadrakali, and Jal Durga are worshiped.
This temple, located about 24 km from Kalpetta near Mananthavady. Valliyoorkavu Bhagavathy Temple was built in the 17th century. The temple is famous for its annual 15-day festival held in February, March and April and this is the best time to visit.
There are many rituals at the temple during the festival, including Utpana Varavu, a procession from the Cheramkod Bhagwati temple at Kalodi near Adhiras, and a procession with tender coconut for Abhishekam mark Arattu of Valliyuramma.
Traditional rituals such as the temple complex Kalmezhhootum Patam, Ideum Kurum, and Soupanitharam are performed, during the festival. Tribal dance performed by the tribe using folk dance instruments, that is another attraction of this festival.
