Dubdi Monastery also known as Yuksom Monastery, one of the oldest Buddhist Shrines in Sikkim and has a great historical significance, located in the Yuksom valley at a stunning hilltop, surrounded by chestnut forest. This Buddhist monastery of the Nyingma sect of Tibetan Buddhism was established in the year 1701. The beautiful stone path to this temple will eventually lead you to the mesmerizing view of the snow-capped mountains and the far off lush greenery of the valleys. It takes about an hour's walk or maybe less to reach the monastery, depends on how fast you walk. This monastery is an intricately painted two-storied structure, depicting paintings of Divinities, Saints, other symbols, and collection of manuscripts and texts, as well as statues of Tibetan teachers of Dharma called Lama inside the monastery, who helped in the making of this monastery. It has an ornamented golden dome on the top known as Gyaltshen. There are also few other monasteries nearby to Dubdi such as Kartok Monastery and Tashiding Monastery, along with a popular attraction called Norbugang Chorten; a religious place that features the seats of Lamas and the first Chogyal King. Sikkim is the place that is very blessed with a rare variety of flora and fauna, so your trip will be incomplete if you don't visit the Khangchendzonga National Park, which is also near to Yuksom Monastery. If you want to avoid the short trek, then private taxis are also available from Yuksom to Monastery, and to reach Yuksom you can take Shared Jeep or Bus from Geyzing and Pelling. The months from March to May is considered to be the best time of the year to visit Sikkim.
