28 days Amarnath Yatra which was scheduled to be held from 28th June
2021 to 22nd August 2021 has been canceled due to Covid 19 Pandemic.
The Amarnath Yatra will not take place this year due to Covid - 19 Pandemic. This is the consecutive third year in a row that the pilgrimage has been disrupted. In 2019 Yatra was called off mid-way, one day before center scrapped article 370 and bifurcated Jammu and Kashmir into two UT's. In 2020 also the Yatra was canceled due to Covid 19 Pandemic. This year too based on the current situation of the spread of Coronavirus in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir, the Amarnath shrine Board has decided in a meeting under the chairmanship of Lt. Governor to cancel this year Amarnath Yatra - considering the health hazards of the devotees. The Board is aware of and respects the sentiments of lakhs of devotees and for keeping the religious sentiments alive, the Board shall continue morning and evening Aarti, the Virtual Darshan / Live Telecast. Further, the rituals shall be performed as per practice. The Shrine Board further deliberated the views of the government. The government made observations supported by facts that suggest that it would not be advisable to give a green signal to Shri Amarnath Yatra 2021 and it would be a wise decision to cancel Yatra this year in the larger public interest.
