The Char Dham Yatra is a journey of four Holy sites of Yamunotri,Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath which is located in Uttarakhand. Adi Shankaracharya is the one who defined the Char Dham in the 8th century. Yamunotri is the first Dham to start your Char Dham Yatra. Char Dham Yatra starts every year from Akshaya Tritiya. The Yatra is considered sacred by Hindus and should be visited at least once in their lifetime. Devotees believe that by visiting here the sins will be washed away. Lakhs of people visit to worship and fulfill their wishes.
The first Dham Yamunotri is situated at an altitude of 3,293 meters in the Garhwal Himalayas in District Uttarkashi. Yamunotri trek is about 6 Km, which is start from the Janki Chatti and it will take approximately 2 to 3 hours to reach Yamunotri. Devotees believe that Yamunotri is the toughest trek in four of Dham because of the narrow pathway and it is also crowded by devotees. Yamunotri is open from April 22nd, 2023, and it will remain open till November 14th, 2023.
The Second Dham Gangotri is one of the highest pilgrimages in India with a height of 3,415 meters and it is 12 hours of drive from Rishikesh. It is around 100 Km from Uttarkashi. Gangotri is open from April 22nd, 2023, and it will remain open till November 14th, 2023.
The Third Dham is Kedarnath which is located in Rudraprayag District with a height of about 3,583 meters approx. 11,750ft above sea level is the Himalayan Mountains. The Trekking starts from Gaurikund and It takes 15 to 16 Km to reach Kedarnath Temple. Kedarnath is open from April 25th, 2023, and it will remain open till November 14th, 2023.
The fourth and the last Dham Badrinath which is located at an elevation of around 3,100 meters. Badrinath temple is dedicated to Vishnu. The temple is also famous for believing in 108 Divya Desams dedicated to Vishnu God. Badrinath is open from April 27th, 2023, and it will remain open till November 21st, 2023.
