43 days Amarnath Yatra has been scheduled to be held from 30th June 2022 to 11th August 2022
Amarnath Yatra, a sacred and religious Yatra, Millions of Pilgrims join in the Amarnath Yatra to have a Darshan of the Holy Lord Shiva replica in Amarnath Cave.
Inside the Cave, an Ice Stalagmite resembling Lord Shiva is waxing from May to August. and waning starts thereafter. The Cave is 3888 m above Sea Level.
As per folklore, the cave was discovered in 1850 by a shepherd Butta Malik, a Muslim. While he was grazing his cattle, a Sufi Saint met him and gave a bag of coal, which is turn out to be Gold. He wanted to meet and thank the Saint, but he disappeared and he found the Cave and the Shiva Linga.
The Cave is situated 638 Km from Delhi by Road and takes 11 Hrs. to reach. Jammu is 178 Km. from Amarnath, whereas Srinagar is 65.27 Km. The Yatra of 2022 will start on 30th June and will end on 11th August 2022.
Registration already started and Registration Charge is Rs 150. The age limit is 13 to 75 Years.
Before you proceed for Yatra, you have to register yourself in the Amarnath Shrine Board Portal. For registration, a medical certificate from authorized Medical Practitioner (authorized by Shrine Board) is a must.
While going to Amarnath, you have to cross Srinagar, Gulmarg, and Sonamarg.
There are two routes to reach the Cave. 1st route - Via Pahalgam which is a longer route nearly 90 Km. 2nd route - Via Baltal, short route nearly 47 Km. If you come by rail, it will reach you up to Jammu.
The Amarnath yatra is now very comfortable because it is well connected by Road and Air services. Frequent Bus and Taxi services at an affordable rate are available. Helicopter services up to Panjtarni helipad are available which is just 6 Km from the cave and takes 2 hrs. walk.
You can hire a Pony or Palki according to your convenience. The journey takes 3.5 days in one way. By horseback, it will cost Rs. 3200 to Rs.5000 per person. Helicopter fare is Rs. 3430 /- per person. Normal trekking shoes will do, no need to purchase costly waterproof shoes, avoid dipping into the water. Even ordinary shoes like Action or Lakhani will do.
The total journey will take 7-8 days. The route from Delhi covers Delhi - Srinagar - Pahalgam - Sheshnag - Panchtarni - Amarnath Cave - Pahalgam - Srinagar-Delhi.
Details are given below:- Yatra Details: Itinerary
Day 1 - Reach Delhi Reach Delhi and check-in at any hotel. After lunch, local sightseeing - India Gate, Rashtrapati Bhawan, Connaught Place, Red Fort, Hanuman Temple, Bangla Sahib Gurudwara, etc. Take dinner and night stay at the hotel.
Day 2 - Delhi to Srinagar - Early morning depart for airport and board flight for Srinagar, the Heaven on earth. After reaching Srinagar, check-in a hotel, or stay at Houseboat. In the afternoon visit Dal Lake, Chasme Shahi, Mughal Gardens, Nishat Garden, Shalimar Garden, and Shankaracharya Temple. You can enjoy the Shikhara ride in the evening. After Dinner night stays at hotel/houseboat.
Day 3 - Srinagar to Pahalgam Srinagar to Pahalgam is 95 Km. It takes 3:30 to 4 hrs. journey by Road. Pahalgam, 7000 ft. above sea level, a small village gives amazing landscapes and beautiful streams. After reaching check-in a hotel and go for sightseeing in the scenic village after taking lunch. Take dinner and take rest in the hotel.
Day 4 - Pahalgam to Amarnath - Pahalgam to Amarnath is 45 Km. and 3800 m above sea level. Start on foot after taking breakfast, don't forget to take packed lunch and gradually reach the upper riches of Himalayas. In the evening take shelter in Tent, Take dinner and go for rest.
Day 5 - Reach the Cave - Start Yatra in the early morning for Amarnath Cave, take breakfast and lunch on the way. Reach the Snow Shivling in the holy cave in the snow-covered Himalayan mountains.
Day 06 : Amarnath - Pahalgam - Early morning, Return to Pahalgam. Breakfast and lunch to be taken on the way. Take a rest in the Hotel. After taking dinner go to bed in the Hotel.
Day 07: Pahalgam to Srinagar and back to Delhi - Early morning start for Srinagar by Road (breakfast en-route) and reach about 10 to 10:30 AM. Take flight for Delhi, reach Delhi in the Afternoon.
