Grishneshwar temple is an ancient temple located at Verul village of Aurangabad district, it is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is dedicated to Lord Shiva.
It is one of the 12 jyotirlingas of lord Shankar and is considered the 12th jyotirlinga. Grishneshwar temple is also called Ghrneshwar or Dhushmeshwar Temple.
It is the smallest Jyotirlinga and the 12th or last Jyotirlinga in India. The temple is open for all. But if men want to enter into Garvagriha or the main sanctum he has to go bare-chested. For entering the Temple, male devotees have to remove their upper body clothes.
It is the only Jyotirlinga in which the Shivlinga can be touched with bare hands.
The temple was rebuilt a number of times, and the present structure has been done by Queen Ahilyabai Holkar of Indore in the 18th century.
The architecture of the temple is typically south Indian style.
