The Man Mandir Ghat was built in 1585, this ghat was built by Sawai Raja Man Singh, king of Ajmer, due to which the ghat was named Man Mandir Ghat. Man Mandir Ghat is earlier known as Someshwar Ghat. An observatory was also established in 1730 by Maharaja Jai Singh. This is the same king who built the Jantar-Mantar in Delhi and Jaipur. This observatory has excellent windows fitted with castings. Four astronomical instruments are still in good condition and are working well. These instruments throw great light on the state of knowledge of astronomy. This observatory was rebuilt in 1850 and renovated by the Rajput ruler of Jaipur in 1912. The Man Mandir Ghat has several important temples, such as the Gooladanta Vinayak, Rameshwara, and Someshwara temples. The Someshwara Lingam here is an equivalent replica of the Somnath temple in Gujarat. It is considered to be one of the nine famous Jyotirlingas of India.
